When organising your wedding, you will need a number of different suppliers to make things happen; venue, caterer, DJ etc. You use these suppliers because you wouldn’t dare try and DIY it; you want everything to be perfect.

The funny thing is, for some reason, when it comes to venue styling; everyone wants to cut corners. Venue styling seems to be one area where people think that it is easy to do themselves. Here are 5 reasons why a professional venue stylists is a necessity:

1. Stress free

DIY stands for do it yourself; and that’s exactly what you will end up doing. It equals hours of work. You will need to source your goods and then find the quantity that you need. This will probably involve driving several miles to collect a few items here and a few items there as one shop is unlikely to have the full quantity that you need. Then you have to make sure that the goods are stored safely until the day of your wedding. Try enjoying your front room when it looks like a store room!

As your wedding approaches you will probably need several cars or a van to transport your decor the venue; don’t break anything as you are unlikely to have spares. You also probably have to book your venue from the night before in order to decorate it yourself because it would be too much to do it the morning of your wedding. That’s more cost right there.

Then you have to transport all the stuff back and then store it until you sell it or give it away (normally the the case).

It really doesn’t look like you’ve saved anything; definitely not time anyway!

2. Expertise

As stylists, we can look at a room and visualise what will and won’t work; we can see something going wrong before it goes wrong. We know our measurements, dimensions etc. It means that when we attend a venue visit with you prior to your wedding (yes, we do that), you know that everything you visualised will happen.

When a couple of mates and your mum are doing your decor, when things go wrong, you don’t have all the equipment or the relevant contacts to fix it; you are usually stuffed.

That’s leads onto the next point.

3. Trouble shooters

When things go wrong, what do you do? YOU- will probably just cry (I would)!

Venue stylists however have an arsenal of plan A’s and B’s to fix it when things go wrong. We walk around with a tool kit akin to a builders tool bag, full with stuff that you have never heard of; like oasis fix (Blue tak on speed).

We know how to make things work when things go wrong and in the worse case scenario, we have a network of stylist friends who we can call on to help save the day.

4. Stock

No matter what the high street and department stores sell, there are just some things that you will never be able to buy or want to afford to buy that us venue stylists can get our hands on. For instance, look at our blossom trees. You can get artificial blossom trees in most high street stores nowadays. BUT you can’t just get these. These are items that are specially manufactured to given specifications. Even if you could find them, they would cost you approx. £200 each to buy; hiring them from us for £60 doesn’t look so bad now does it?

Larger items like flower walls and back drops are not so readily available if you are looking for something that it quality. With a venue stylist, you will have choice meaning that you will not have to compromise.

5. Visual Memories

When your wedding is over, the only thing you will have are your memories and your photos. Don’t let your bad bow tying skills be memorialised forever in your wedding pictures.

When we style, we take into consideration that your day is being photographed, therefore we will style to ensure that they will be clear shots of certain items. For instance, sometimes the cake is placed just a little too far from the head table to be in shot with the head table or it is placed in a position that makes it look awkward to where the head table is sitting.
